CVData and CVCX V3 Improvements

New versions of the CVCX and CVData simulators are now available. If you are unfamiliar with these products, you can obtain information on the CVData and CVCX pages. Version 3 changes are outlined below. Note: Only added features are mentioned.

CVCX (Chapter X It!) - Combination Blackjack Simulator, Sim Library & Risk/Goal/Bankroll/Trip Ruin/Results/SCORE/Optimal Bet calculator

"I believe any serious player or team captain should own this software. There's no other simulator that can match its sheer speed or features in today's market." - George C.

  • Additional data - Two to seven new rows of data have been added; 26 additional penetrations have been added to six & eight deck sims and sims by fixed number of rounds (no cut-card) have been added for single deck. For the first time, you can easily calculate betting ramps, win rates, risk, etc. for fixed rounds games as well as cut-card games.
  • Canned sims - Since there are now additional data, all the canned sims have been rerun and additional sims have been included. 150,000 sims are in the library. The number of rounds per sim has been increased to 2,000,000,000. More hands were simmed than have been dealt in the history of Blackjack throughout the World (about one quadrillion.) (Current sims can be found at CVCX Archives.)
  • Quick Compare - This new feature allows you to set all parameters (rules, bankroll, spread, risk, penetration, decks, back-counting, etc.) and quickly switch between different sims to see the differences in results. Also a Compare All function calculates the SCOREs for every sim in the archives (canned sims and/or your sims) for the current parameters and provides a report.
  • Comparison Charts - These are seven new charts that allow you to compare SCOREs or six other variables for every penetration by card for up to three sets of sims at once. Looking at only one penetration does not tell you if one strategy (method of counting, TC calculation, set of indexes, etc.) is better than another over all penetrations. These charts show strategy performance over a large range of penetrations. You will see that some strategies that are better at higher penetrations and worse at lower penetrations than others.
  • Calculators - The Risk of Ruin, Bankroll and Results calculators have been reorganized and expanded to cover all such formulae in Don Schlesinger's Blackjack Attack third edition. There are now twelve calculators and nine charts. Two new charts have been added to plot your actual casino results or estimated range of results on the standard normal curve to show you exactly where you are on the curve. (Note: two of these calculators will not function until the release date for Blackjack Attack 3e.)
  • Departure Adjustment - This option only appears when Back-Counting is selected. CVCX normally assumes that you play all hands at or above the selected count. However, most people will stay at the table for awhile if the count dips below that Wong-In point. This feature is based on a methodology posted by DD'. When selected, an estimate is made of the SCORE and Win Rate as if you exited the table when the count has dropped to the first row of counts displayed (normally -1.) Note: This is only an estimate. CVData must be used to calculate the exact numbers. Also, you can enter a number. This is the number of hands that it would take you to find a new table. So, if you enter 10, you are estimating that it you will waste ten hands looking for a new table and the Win Rate will be decreased accordingly.
  • Chapter 10 Create - A new function has been added to create tables in the exact format of Blackjack Attack third edition. This is the function that was used to create the Chapter 10 tables in the book. (Note: this function will not function until the release date for Blackjack Attack 3e.)
  • Customized TC Calculation - New methods of True Count calculation have been added. You can now set up an exact table of divisors by user defined deck segments to more accurately match the sims to your specific style of estimating depth and calculating. You can also use multipliers instead of divisors. Many people use this method for hand held games. This will allow users to create betting ramps and examine results based on their exact style of play.
  • Rational Bets - A new method of bet simplification has been added to automatically create more realistic betting ramps. This method was used in the new Blackjack Attack Chapter 10 tables.
  • Summary Data - Certainty Equivalent, CE/WR Ratio and N0 have been added to the data in the main screen providing the ability to see these values change dynamically as you change parameters. You can now customize the columns displayed in the summary.
  • Parameter entry - Additional methods of entering penetration, bankroll and custom bets have been added for ease of use.
  • Composite Dependent Indexes - CD Indexes are indexes that depend on the exact cards in your hand. Up to 500 CD indexes can be used in a strategy: 100 each for two-card Hard Hit/Stand, three-card Hard Hit/Stand, Surrender, Hard Double Down and Insurance.
  • Archives - The archives have been reorganized and can be sorted in three manners to make it easier to locate sim files.
  • Group Indexes - A new method of specifying indexes for unbalanced strategies is provided to allow sim runs of different numbers of decks at the same time.
  • Numerous minor enhancements.

Advanced Blackjack Simulator

"The top Blackjack simulator on the market today, bar none." - Arnold Snyder

  • Custom Bonuses - You can now create up to ten custom bonus rules in a single sim. These rules can be very complex based on dealer or player number of cards, card totals, suits, colors, exact cards, upcard and whether or not you split, DD or win.
  • Custom Side Bets - These are like Custom Bonuses but require a side bet, are only bet on specified counts and generate stats by true count to aid in determining strategies.
  • Remove Seat Effect - This feature rotates the players among the seats to allow a fair comparison of different strategies in the same sim.
  • Real Shuffling - As an alternative to random shuffling, you can now specify real shuffles. The shuffles can be extremely complex and variability can be specified in every step. A shuffle animator is supplied to ensure that you have correctly defined the strategy. Note: Shuffle-Tracking support has not been added. This is to test for shuffle weaknesses. (Note: I am calling this section experimental as it is highly complex. It has been extensively tested and verifies deck contents successfully after every shuffle. But, I won't declare it non-experimental until after a few more months of testing.)
  • Multi-Card Index Tables - You can now specify different indexes or decisions based on the number of cards in your hand.
  • Session Data - A new set of data based on sessions and bankrolls has been added. Ten options are provided to determine the effect of session limitations on overall results. (This feature was used in conjunction with the RoR calculators to create four tables in Blackjack Attack 3e Chapter 8.)
  • Bankroll-Based strategies - You can now alter playing and betting strategies based on the current bankroll size.
  • Dealer Errors - Seven types of dealer errors can now be generated at specified rates. (This is in addition to current player error options.)
  • Team Play - Support has been added for Big Player and Gorilla team play.
  • SimTract - This feature provides the ability to subtract all of the thousands of pieces of data in one sim from another sim to see the differences of configuration or strategy changes in detail. This is a procedure that I have used numerous times in the past to see the exact difference between close strategies. But now it takes a couple clicks instead of spreadsheets.
  • Unequal bets - You can now bet multiple hands with different numbers of units. For example, three hands with 6, 8, and 10 units.
  • Calculators - The Risk of Ruin and Bankroll calculators have been reorganized and expanded to cover all such formulae in Don Schlesinger's Blackjack Attack third edition. There are now twelve calculators and nine charts. Two new charts have been added to chart your actual casino results or estimated range of results on the standard normal curve to show you exactly where you are on the curve. (Note: two of these calculators will not function until the release date for Blackjack Attack 3e.)
  • Customized TC Calculation - New methods of True Count calculation have been added for both simulation and index generation. You can now set up an exact table of divisors by user defined deck segments to more accurately match the sims to your specific style of estimating depth and calculating. You can also use multipliers instead of divisors. Many people use this method for hand held games. This will allow users to create betting ramps and examine results based on the exact style of play and can also be used to calculate the effect of deck estimation errors.
  • Expanded Composite Dependent Indexes - CD Indexes are indexes that depend on the exact cards in your hand. Up to 500 CD indexes can be used in a strategy: 100 each for two-card Hard Hit/Stand, three-card Hard Hit/Stand, Surrender, Hard Double Down and Insurance. Each of the seven players could have 500 different CD indexes for each section of the shoe, or for six different bankroll sizes for a total of 20,000 CD indexes in one sim. There is only a small change in sim speed even if 20,000 CD indexes are used.
  • Custom Bonus Composition Dependent Indexes - This feature allows the generation of indexes for custom rules that you invent. For example, you could define the rule 'suited 678 pays 7:1 and non-suited 678 pays 2:1' and generate an index for a hand with suited 6 and 8 against a dealer 5. Up to nine rules and 17 indexes can be defined in one sim.
  • Summary Data - SCORE and N0 have been added to the data in the summary screen. You can now customize the columns displayed in the summary.
  • Group Indexes - A new method of specifying indexes for unbalanced strategies is provided to allow sim runs of different numbers of decks at the same time.
  • New Rules - Multi-Card Surrender, Surrender after Double (DD Rescue,) and four variations of No Hole Card.
  • Manual - The manual has been expanded to 90 pages. Included are two new Tours that provide step-by-step instructions for generating indexes or creating a new strategy from scratch.
  • Numerous minor enhancements.
