What's the Disadvantage with no insurance?

Hi all. After buying a copy of Modern Blackjack I, I've decided to learn the REKO count. But one thing that still bothers me is the Insure Blackjack only rule we have over here in the UK.
My question is: is it still profitable to play a 4/6 deck game with this rule since Norm mentions in the book that it is an unfavorable rule for the player. I realise a 12.3% reduction in SCORE is significant, but does that mean blackjack games in the UK are completely non playable?

Any help would be much appreciated.

4/6 BJ with insure BJ only is really bad. A couple things:

There are now some games in the UK without this rule as the law changed a bit back. First choice is to find these games.

In general, casinos in the UK have very little heat. This means you may be able to find better penetration, or you may be able to bet with a higher spread. A high spread can make up for bad rules.
