Betting Ramps

Let us look at a sample set of bet ramps. The following table was generated by CVCX for a double-deck, S17 game with a 1-8 spread, $10,000 bankroll, REKO strategy, and 13.5% risk of ruin. If the penetration is 26-32 cards cut off, you start with a bet of $25 and start increasing at a count of +1. If 43-52 cards are cut off, you start with $15 and start increasing at -1. These numbers have been simplified to create sensible bets. Before simplification, the table would have said to start betting $14 at 52 cards cut off, $15 at 50 cards, $16 at 47 cards, etc. However, people do not usually bet such odd numbers.

It is important to note that you can bet larger amounts at deeper penetrations while retaining the same risk. Therefore, the reason that we can make more money at deeper penetrations is not just that the advantage (EV) is better, but that we also can bet more. This additional gain was ignored by the old method of simply comparing advantages.

Below you will see the same chart for FELT, but for six decks. Here there is a dramatic difference in the amounts that you can bet at different penetration with the same risk.
