CV Blackjack UMPC Support
The first
device built to the Ultra-Mobile PC (UMPC or Origami) spec started shipping
May 9th. The Samsung Q1. Silly person that I am, I bought one. The UMPC
is a tablet PC but runs Windows XP. It's far smaller than a portable PC
but far more powerful than a Palm.
Actually I generally dislike portable PCs. But, I thought it would
make for great Blackjack practice and as a CVCX calculator. And so I have
been developing a new version of CV that supports the device. V4.1 is
now available on the Downloads page. When V4.1 is invoked on a UMPC, it
will recognize the device and make several changes. The major changes
are:
- Two new table formats exist. These are 800x480 ultra-real formats.
One supports four seats and the other six seats. You may play any or
all seats. The photo-realistic table, shoe and tray are used in these
new formats.
- To make use of the touch screen, all betting and playing functions
can now be performed using customizable buttons. You can configure the
buttons however you wish for maximum speed. The device is designed to
be held in both hands while controlling the game with your thumbs.
Note: This is not a stripped down version. Nearly every CVBJ function
works including all 37 drills. One interesting feature. You can call for
a Hit by literally scratching the table with your finger, exactly as you
might in a casino.
Price is unchanged and an upgrade to V4.1 is available free to V4
users on the downloads page. One CV Blackjack license can be used on a
home PC, office PC, portable PC and UMPC. I also intend to make certain
that CVShuffle, CVData and CVCX will function on UMPCs. Unfortunately
the device is not free. It costs $1,100!
