Resplit Aces

Most casinos allow you to split aces only once. The situation does not come up that often as you must receive three aces, but it is more important than people generally think as an ace is a great hand and a 12 with no chance to hit is a terrible hand. In a six-deck game, Resplit aces reduces the basic strategy house edge by about .09%.

We can see that 69% of U.S. games disallow RSA. An insignificant number of tables allow one resplit while the rest allow splitting up to four hands.

Nevada, California, Louisiana and Mississippi do not vary greatly from the national average. However, in Reno and Sparks, the rule is nearly nonexistent. This is due to the odd fact that RSA is rarely seen in single-deck games. I say odd because the rule is not as valuable in single-deck games where you will rarely receive three of the four aces in one hand.

We do not see this rule in Atlantic City.
