Advanced Card Counting Theory and Play

A few words on advanced Blackjack play. Although CV supports complex strategies and allows online strategy selection and display, this manual makes no attempt to teach these sophisticated Blackjack strategies. If you wish to correctly learn advanced Blackjack strategies, do not attempt to gain this knowledge from any PC game. If you play primarily for fun, simple strategies can reduce your losses and extend your play. If you wish to become an expert Blackjack player, do not be fooled by simple explanations of Blackjack strategy. Keep in mind that effective play with advanced strategies requires months of practice before playing, additional continuous practice between games and a complete denial of gambling instincts. Several excellent texts on the subject written by the true Blackjack experts exist. Some of these follow with brief editorialism:

Snyder, Arnold Blackbelt in Blackjack RGE Publishing, 1983 (Publisher of Blackjack Forum, contains one of the easiest to learn honest card counting system)

Thorp, Edward Beat the Dealer Random House, 1966 (Dr. Thorp was not the first card counter; but this is probably the first serious text on the subject. Still a good read.)

Uston, Ken Million Dollar Blackjack Gambling Times Inc., 1981 (The late Ken Uston was one of the first big moneymakers at Blackjack.)

Vancura and Fuchs Knock-Out Blackjack Huntington Press, 2003, A very popular and simple card counting strategy.

Wong, Stanford Professional Blackjack Pi Yee Press, 1975, rev. 1994 (Covers simple to expert card counting. One of the most modern texts.)
