CVShuffle Drills Setup

These drills are can be invoked from the main menu. Select Tools then Drills and click on CVShuffle Drills. You should also look at the standard CV Discard Tray Drills. The following describes the screen:

Drills

First, we need to select the drill.

Ø Cut Practice - Here you practice cutting a shoe.

Ø Other Player Cut - Here you estimate the cards cut by another player.

Ø Nicknames - Some players use nicknames for each of the 52 cards to help them remember key cards when tracking Aces. This drill tests and increases speed and accuracy in recalling nicknames.

Resolution

Ø By Card - When set, cut card drills are by exact card.

Ø By Segment - When set, drills are by segment as per the segment size setting below the option.

Stack Position

Ø Standing - The cards are displayed in a stack as in a tray.

Ø Flat Vertical - The cards are displayed facing away from you.

Ø Flat Horizontal - The cards are displayed horizontally.

Ø Random – Randomly select one of the three above.

Options

Ø Random Locations - Move the position of the card stacks around the screen randomly.

Ø From Bottom - Cards are counted from the bottom of the stack instead of the top.

Ø Add 1 - Normally, the first quarter of a deck is counted as 13 cards. Arnold Snyder’s Shuffle Tracking Cookbook counts this as 14. This option will change the counting method accordingly.

Ø No Animation - Suppress animation of the Other Player Cuts.

Accuracy

Set this to the accuracy level desired. You will receive warnings if you do not get the exact card but they will not be counted as errors if they are within this accuracy level.

Card Thickness

Move the slider to the right to increase the thickness of cards or the left to decrease.

Timer Mode

You must select one of the timer modes below to control the presentation of the tests:

Ø Automatic - In this mode, you are given a limited amount of time to respond to tests. If you do not respond on time, the text on the correct button turns red and is underlined and an error is logged. You must press this button to continue the drill.

Ø Count Down - In this mode, you are given an unlimited time to respond to a test.

Ø Count Up - This is the same as COUNT DOWN except for the handling of the total time field as described later.

Ø Number Box - The box with a number in it can be changed to specify the number of tests that take place in one drill.

Control Bars

Note: all speeds and times are measured in seconds and displayed below the control bars.

Ø Speed - In Automatic Timer Mode, this field specifies the amount of time that you have to respond to a test.

Ø Decks - Moving the Decks bar down will increase the number of decks.
