CVShuffle Main Screen

You enter CVShuffle by clicking on TOOLS then CVShuffle from the BJ table. From here you can reach the other CVShuffle screens. Shuffle fine-tuning also takes place on this screen.

Shuffle Tracking On

At the bottom of the screen is the switch that turns shuffle-tracking on or off during the play of the game. If it is off, then a random shuffle is used. Whenever you enter this screen, the option is automatically turned on. You must turn it off if you don’t want real shuffling to occur.

Current Shuffles

Also at the bottom of the screen you will see the currently selected shuffle(s). One shuffle is always selected. You can also select an alternate shuffle. This is only used during the play of the game. When two are selected, the game randomly selects one. This is used when a dealer can use a couple of variations.

Shuffle Steps and Details

On the left you will see the list of steps in the current shuffle. On the right you will see the details of one step. Select a different step by clicking on the desired step on the left. You can fine-tune each step by changing the displayed parameters.

Shuffling Process

Very large changes in a shuffle or huge variability can make a shuffle invalid. For example, changing the number of decks from eight to four after the shuffle has been defined is not a good idea. However, it will not cause problems with the program. When it comes time to shuffle the cards, the shuffle will be performed according to the cards in the discard tray and remaining in the shoe and the shuffle definition along with any variability that you have defined. If necessary, adjustments will be made to the shuffle, just as a dealer would make adjustments if he/she grabbed too many or few cards. After the shuffle, an integrity check takes place. There is a slight chance that a shuffle will fail the integrity test. In this case, the shuffle is rewound and reattempted with different random numbers where you have indicated variability in the shuffle. If this fails, a third try is attempted. All this occurs in a fraction of a second. If all attempts fail, the player is warned and the cards randomly shuffled. If the shuffle succeeds and an animation has been requested, then an animation of the shuffle is constructed using the exact amounts of variability and starting cards that succeeded and this is displayed to the player.

Creating a new shuffle

Follow the below steps to describe a new shuffle:

Ø New/Open - Click New/Open to enter the shuffle maintenance screen. You will create a new shuffle file here based on a current shuffle.

Ø Defaults - When you return, the new shuffle will be selected and displayed. Click on Defaults to indicate the normal settings for shuffle characteristics that will be used as you create shuffle steps.

Ø Clear - When you return, you will normally hit the Clear button. This will erase all steps accept the starting step. If you want the new shuffle to look very much like a previously defined shuffle, skip this step.

Ø Start Parameters - On the right side, the shuffle start parameters are displayed. Set the number of decks and the average penetration. The average penetration is used only during shuffle creation and mapping. During play, the actual number of cards in the discard tray is used.

Ø Editor - Click on Editor to enter the video editor. Here you will create the shuffle. The editor also contains a Play function that will animate the shuffle for you.

Ø Fine - When you return, the steps of the created shuffle will appear on the left. You may want to click through the steps and make some adjustments.

Ø Map - Once you have created the shuffle, you will generally want to click on Map to enter the Mapping tool. This tool is used to determine shuffle weaknesses.

Ø Practice - Finally, exit CVShuffle to practice the game using the shuffle.
