Blackjack Flashcard Drills Operation

These drills are used for both Blackjack Basic Strategy and card counting. When you hit Launch, the drill will begin. A flashcard is displayed. A flashcard consists of a dealer up card displayed at the top of the screen, two to five player cards in the middle of the screen, and a true count between the cards. You must hit one of the response buttons in the lower middle of the screen to indicate the correct play in the described situation. You will see the following:

Distractions

Ø Stopwatch - The stopwatch will show the expired time

Ø Strip Chart - Your accuracy and speed are plotted here as you play. This is designed primarily as a distraction. The Charts are far more useable.

Stats

Ø Rounds - This field displays the number of tests that have taken place in this drill.

Ø Seconds - In Automatic and Count Up Timer Modes, this field shows the total time used thus far in the drill. In Count Down Timer Mode, this field starts at the Alarm Time and counts down. The alarm sounds when the number reaches zero and the count continues into negative numbers.

Ø Accuracy - Shows the percentage of correct test answers.

Ø Speed - This shows the average time per test.

Buttons

Ø Start - Start a new drill.

Ø Pause - Pressing this button will stop the timer. Press CONTINUE to continue.

Ø Stop - This button will cancel the drill.

Ø Exit - EXIT returns to the options screen.

Ø Response Buttons - The buttons at the bottom center of the screen are used to respond to tests. If you respond incorrectly, text on the button with the correct answer will turn blue and be underlined. You must press this button to continue the drill. Note: You can also use the keyboard by hitting the keys defined in the Drills General Options screen.

Ø Note: You can also signify Hit or Stand by stroking the cards with the mouse as in the game.

Print

You can use the Print icon in the lower left corner to create a report of the current drill.
