Settings - Environment

Click on one of the ten tabs at the top of the screen for different folders containing sets of option settings. If you have difficulty finding an option, press the Locator button. This screen is entered from menu OPTIONS - SETTINGS and contains environmental options as follows:

Logs

Ø Log all hands - Logs are kept of all player hands played. Turning off this option will turn off logging to conserve disk space. Note: Logs are used for graphs and statistics tables. You can also see the exact hands that have been played.

Ø Auto delete logs - To conserve space without turning off logging, set this option. Logs will be kept; but the previous log will be deleted whenever a new session starts. You will be able to view graphs and statistics tables for the current session; but not prior sessions.

Chips

Ø $2.50 chips exist - Some casinos use $2.50 chips when paying a Blackjack which results in an uneven dollar amount.

Ø Silver dollars exist - Some casinos use their own silver coins instead of one dollar chips

Ø White $100 chips - A few casinos use white $100 chips instead of black.

Ø Tip Chips – When set, you will always have small change for tips.

Ø Neat Chips - For realism, chips are placed in stacks in different directions. If this bothers you, this option lines up the markings on the sides of the chips.

Testing

Ø Stack the Deck - This option was originally implemented for testing. It has been left in the production version to allow the user to see how different casinos handle specific hands. When this feature is selected, whenever a card is to be dealt, a small window will be displayed that will allow you to specify the card to be dealt. You can move this window to any part of the screen and it will stay there. Click on a suit and a card. The suit does not need to be selected each time.

Viewing Options

Ø Suppress result signs - This option improves reality by suppressing the Win, Lose, Blackjack and Bust signs that appear during hand evaluation.

Ø Hide cards in discard tray - Some casinos now hide the discards. This feature allows practice without the benefit of a discard tray.

Ø Display error rate - When this feature is set, the percentage of times during this execution of CV that you have made the correct play according to the selected strategy will be displayed. You can reset this percentage by selecting menu FILE - NEW SESSION.

Ø Tipping Allowed - When this option is selected, a tipping line will appear on the table. You can place tips for the dealer by dragging chips from the chip box to this line. You can also track the total amount lost with tipping with the graph feature. This is important as you may find that you may be tipping more than you are winning.

Ø Tipping on D. D. & Split - When this option is set, any tips that you have made will be increased whenever you double down or split.

Ø Chip Pick-up Aid - If you are playing a system that requires betting odd amounts and you have difficulty picking up the correct number of chips, this feature can help you pick the right number of chips. When this option is set, whenever the mouse is above the chip box, a number will appear that will tell you how many chips will be picked up when you press the mouse button.

Ø Use non-bold fonts - CV normally uses bold fonts for better readability. If you don’t like this, use this feature to change all screens.

Ø Old gray background - As I am tired of the Windows gray screens, CV uses more Web-like colors. If you prefer the gray colors, use this option and nearly all screens will be changed.

Ø Don’t blackout Windows - All Windows screens and the Windows task bar are blacked out while running CV. If you don’t like this, use this option. When the BJ table is visible, you can always minimize the table, or hit ESC to bring Windows back.

Ø Marble Background - This option creates a marble background that some users may find distracting. The marble background is only available with a 1024x768 table size.

Ø Keypad Betting - When set, you can use the keypad for betting. To bet, click on the "+" key and type in your bet. Then hit ENTER. You can then click on "+" again to bet on the second hand, or just hit ENTER to deal. This can be useful to those who need to bet odd amounts. Note: You do not need to have the NUM LOCK on to use the keypad. If it is off, CV will automatically turn it on

Ø Suppress Cut Card - Normally, a cut card is shown in the shoe and flies across the table when a shuffle will occur before the next deal. When this option is set, these warnings do not occur. If you also set the Randomize Penetration option on the Basic Rules tab, it will be difficult to predict when a shuffle will occur.

Ø Always peek at count - When this option is selected, the card counts are automatically displayed after every round completes. clicking anywhere on the table will erase the counts.

Ø Peek at count before shuffle – When set, you will get a peek at the counts before the shuffle to see if you made it to the end with the correct count.
