True Count Calculator

If the Allow Correction option on the Dealer Actions folder of the OPTIONS - SETTINGS screen is set, then a ? will appear on the table to the right of the warning. Click on this (or the error panel itself) to get the Strategy Warning screen and then on the True Count Calculator to get to this screen after an error. You can also get to this screen from TOOLS - TRUE COUNT CALCULATOR.

Actions

The action that you took and the correct action are displayed here. If you change any of the options on the right, the new correct action will also be shown.

Remaining Cards

The remaining cards as defined by the Remaining Cards Calculation option is shown.

Counts

The counts relevant to your system are shown.

True Count Resolution

The options on the left are used only in card counting systems in which a running count is converted to a true count. The options vary the exactness of the division. Changing any of these options will recalculate the counts and possibly effect the strategy decision. If you change an option, the new settings take effect immediately.

Ø Full Deck - This option is only meaningful if your counting system true count conversion is in full decks. If it is in half decks and this option is set, the Half Deck option below will be used. The option means that you will estimate the remaining decks in terms of full decks. And always divide by a whole number.

Ø Half Deck - When set, the running count divisor will be the remaining decks (or half decks if specified by your system) to the nearest half deck. This requires a better estimate of the remaining decks.

Ø Quarter Deck - This is quite difficult with many decks remaining. When set, you must estimate the remaining decks to the closest number of quarter decks.

Last Deck Resolution

It is easier and more important to estimate the remaining decks when you are in the last deck of a shoe (when you are luck enough to find a casino that deals that far.) This option allows you to force a better estimate during the last deck.

True Count Division

Ø Round - After the True Count division, the result is rounded to the nearest integer.

Ø Truncate - After the True Count division, if the result is fractional, the next lower integer is used if the result is positive and the next higher integer is used if the result is negative.

Ø Floor - After the True Count division, if the result is fractional, the next lower integer is used.

Deck Estimate

Ø Round - Assuming Full Deck Resolution, If this option is set, 1-26 cards remaining is considered one deck and 27-78 cards is considered two decks. Half Deck and Quarter Deck resolutions are also rounded accordingly.

Ø Truncate - Assuming Full Deck Resolution, If this option is set, 1-52 cards remaining is considered one deck and 53-104 cards is considered two decks. This is the more typical method of counting.

Ø 95th Percentile - Assuming Full Deck Resolution, If this option is set, 1-49 cards remaining is considered one deck and 50-99 cards is considered two decks. This is the more typical method of counting with a little leeway for error.

Remaining Cards Calculation

Different players estimate the remaining cards in different manners as follows:

Ø Subtract Cards Dealt - In calculating the remaining cards subtract the total number of cards dealt from the total cards.

Ø Subtract Cards Shown - With this option, only take into account the cards seen.

Ø Subtract Cards in Tray - With this option, just look at the cards in the discard tray.

Options

Ø TC Decimal places displayed - Most people round True Counts to an integer. If you would like to see a more exact TC in the pop-up stats, set the desired number of decimals here.

Ø Use Running Count with Zero Index - When making plays like 16vTen with a zero index, many people use the Running Count instead of the True Count for greater ease and accuracy. Set this option if you would like CV to work this way.

Reset to Current

Clicking this button will change the options back to the settings that they had when this screen was entered.
