Playing Strategy - Index Tables

The following describes modification of a strategy table. This table is entered from the Modify Tables screen.

Full Tables

When you press a button on the Modify Tables screen, you will enter a new screen that displays the selected table. The screen will look very like the screen displayed from the Display Tables buttons except that here it can be modified. To modify the table right-click on a cell. Many special conditions are supported including numerous Spanish 21 and Super Fun 21 strategy plays. You can also first select a color by clicking on the red, green or blue box at the bottom left of the screen. If you select red or green, you can now change any cell in the array to red or green by left-clicking on the desired cell. If you wish to turn several cells to one color, you do not need to re-select the color each time. If you select the blue color, you must specify a number for each cell in the array that you change to blue. If you do not select a number, a zero will be entered. When you have entered a number, hit return or click on another cell.

Double Down for Less

The procedure is somewhat different for DD for Less. This is a cover play used to fool the surveillance people by making an incorrect double with a very small bet. If you right-click on a red cell and select DD for Less, Cassie will warn you if you do not DD for less. If you first set an index and then right-click and select DD for Less, Cassie will expect a full DD at that index but a DD for less at lower indexes. You will see an “&” in any cell marked DD for Less.

Double Exposure/Hole Carding Tables

The Modify Tables screen has a “Double Exposure” option at the upper left. When checked, the index tables look very different. Instead of 10 columns for dealer up cards Ace through Ten, 23 columns are supplied for all possible dealer two card hard and soft hands. Also, additional rows are displayed on some tables. Most DBX and hole-carding strategies are Basic Strategies. That is there are no indexes. However, indexes are supported in these tables and can be set in the normal manner. You will find a sample Double Exposure strategy under Mike Schakleford, courtesy of the Wizard of Odds. A sample Hole-Carding strategy can be found under QFIT.

Group Indexes

An alternate method of adding indexes is by using Groups. This is useful with simplified, unbalanced strategies. Some of these strategies only contain two or three different index values. Hands fall into these groups. However, the index values may vary by number of decks. To indicate that an index is in a group, right click on the cell and click on the group number. To set the index values assigned to each group for each number of decks, use the Groups button on the control bar on the Playing Strategies definition screen.

Modification Tables

The above describes modification of full tables. Modification tables are slightly different and only exist for Advanced Strategies. They are used to add Double after Split and European No Hole Card variations. These tables are added to the full tables. When a modification table is displayed, most or all of the cells in the array will be black. Black indicates to CV that this table value is not affected by the option for which this table exists (DAS or NH). If you have loaded Complete Zen Count or Complete Basic Strategies, then some of the cells in some of the modification tables will already be set. Modification of these tables is the same as for the full tables except that a black color box also exists to allow turning a cell off.

Composition Dependent Indexes

Click on the CD button at the bottom of the Hard Hit/Stand, Hard Double Down and Surrender screens to add CD Indexes.
