Rounds - Up to
20,000,000,000,000 rounds of Blackjack can be simulated.
Players - 1-7
seats, each seat can use a different playing & betting strategy.
Players can be told to periodically change seats to remove the seat
effect when comparing multiple strategies. Also, you can vary the number
of players at the table during a sim.
Data - I figure,
if you're going to play billions of hands, you ought to record what
happened. Up to 20,000 stats are created per seat, per player and for
the entire table in one sim.
Reports - Printing
all of this data requires 250 pages. Clearly this is silly. So, a reporting
subsystem has been included. A customized report can be defined including
only the data that you wish for the seats or players that you wish.
To deal with the large variety of stats; descriptions can be included
on the reports. Nearly all printers are supported and formatted tables
with proportional fonts are used to improve readability.
WWW Publishing -
But, what about the Internet. The same reporting facility can be used
to create a customized report for Web publishing. The data will be written
to disk using HTML tables and formatting for readability. This file
can be displayed and edited with a browser or posted to a web page.
See a sample one seat WWW report.
MS Word - Alternatively,
you can create a Microsoft Word document which you can then edit. The
reporting subsystem will take control of MS Word using OLE2 (Object
Linking and Embedding.) A customized report will be created using Word
tables.
Do it yourself Graphs
- I find that graphing sim data greatly improves understanding of results.
With all this data, I could not decide what to include in graphs in
addition to the 40 standard graphs. So, a Do-it-yourself graphing subsystem
has been added. You can take any sets of the 60,000 data items and graph
them. You can also take data from different sim runs and graph them
together. In fact, you can take data from different sims run on different
PC's in different countries and graph them on one chart. A separate
help file has been included to describe the hundreds of graph options.
Excel Link - A
link to Excel can now be set up to add your own calculations.
CVSpread - You
say that you don't have Excel? No problem. A spreadsheet subsystem has
been included with CVSIM that can support Excel commands, functions
and files. 143 math functions are included. Data is also dynamically
updated in this spreadsheet as a sim runs. (You could easily set it
up to dynamically recalculate the mortgage that you can afford with
your winnings.) If interest develops, I will form a library of spreadsheets
that can be loaded and executed during a sim. You need to know Excel
or another spreadsheet (or buy a book on Excel) as I do not intend to
include Help info for this feature at this time.
Recoverability -
With an unlimited number of rounds, you might start worrying about your
dog tripping over the power cord or your five-year old hitting the boot
button. If a sim is interrupted without warning, the next time that
you start up CVBJ, it will ask if you want a restart. If yes, the sim
engine is reloaded with its state a bit prior to the interruption and
restarted at that point.
Extend - All input
and output data elated to a sim is now included in the history files.
You can now select any old sim from the log and hit Extend to add additional
rounds. If the old sim used user betting and/or playing strategies which
have since changed, they will be temporarily reset to their state at
the time of the original sim.
Number formatting
- To ease readability, thousands separators are now included in the
60,000 stats. To support the infinite number of rounds, each number
is tested for size and converted to scientific format if necessary.
High-Resolution Monitors -
As most PC's are now delivered with 800x600 or 1024x768 resolution,
these resolutions are now supported to display more data at once without
scrolling and more digits of significance. The conversion to scientific
format will be at higher thresholds with larger screen resolution.
International Formats -
To improve readability for non-U.S. users; numbers, currencies and dates
are customized by country including decimal separators, thousands separators,
currency symbols, currency character placement, currency digits to the
right of the decimal, negative sign placement, years in date, position
of day in date, and language of day. For example, the U.S. value '-$2,345,678.90'
would be displayed '-2 345 678,90 kr' in Sweden or 'F 2.345.678,90-'
in France. This support is included in screen displays, printed reports,
Web reports and MS Word support. (By the way, as I've had to return
four Eurocheques (not valid in U.S.) from European customers, I have
contracted with a German order-taking firm that accepts Eurocheques
and most European currencies.)
Export/Import -
Sim histories can be exported and then e-mailed and imported into another
machine. All data is exported including sim output, configurations,
the seven active betting strategies and seven active playing strategies.
This provides ability for a second person to view the details of a sim,
create their own reports or Extend the sim. If Extending the sim, the
second user's custom betting and playing strategies will be temporarily
overridden by the first user's strategies during the sim.
Playing Strategies -
CVSIM can use the 400 CVBJ card counting tables and strategy creation
screens.
Betting strategies
- A new, much simpler, method of specifying a betting strategy has been
included. Although it is much easier to use, it still provides for sophisticated
camouflage plays and betting errors. I believe that a sim without sophisticated
cover play simulation is useless. For more advanced strategies (wonging
in and out, advanced camouflage, combination. counting./progression
for camouflage, etc.) the old advanced method of defining a betting
strategy is also included. You can convert from a basic strategy to
an advanced and then add features. Also, the advanced strategy betting
table has been increased to five columns by 30 rows.
Speed - Varies:
12 million hands/hour for heads-up on 486 under Win95. 190 million hands/hour
heads-up on a Pentium II 300.
Playing well with others
- CVSIM will now run well concurrently with other applications.
Help - Additional
pop-up Help balloons are used. In particular, passing the mouse over
the 24 data displays will provide information on the contents. The on-line
Help has also been improved. In particular, the complex playing error
and betting error methodologies are now detailed.
Install - The
install now supports the Win95 registry and an un-install is included
which supports Win95 standards.
Etc. - 32 rule
variations, many included betting strategies, ability to use CVBJ play
or drills during the sim, Ace side counts, configurable TC calculation
by seat, and simulation of strategy and betting errors. Windows interface
with Win95 tab & folder style and Help Balloons for all functions.
NO need to use an ASCII editor.
